Safe biking
Pedal power is great fun and the fun remains when safety is considered.
Under that banner is a quick reference list:
|
- For confidence boosting cycle skills, check out our cycle training packages to meet your needs.
- Make sure your bike is well maintained.
- Try and stick to marked bike routes,
although you've got the right to use the road, bike routes reduce the risks.
- Read commuter tips to give you the edge.
- Don't jump lights or let a wound up motorist wind you up.
- Always take the "b-safe & b-seen" tips seriously.
- Use a bell or bike horn to warn others of your approach.
- Use good lights at night - carry a back up LED just in case.
- Use reflective gear when in the dark - it may not be the coolest gear,
but you'll offset that by being on your bike - didn't you know that the bike is the coolest invention?
- Ride with others if just starting out.
- When going on family rides, plan for your children.
- Ride safely and enjoy your pedal power time.
- The Highway code (on-line) has all the official rules for cyclists.
