Cycle Maintenance & Repair skills training & courses
If you've always wanted to know how to fix a bike,
want to brush up on the basics or learn how to do a complete service,
we offer you a choice of technical skills courses to suit everyone.
We run two types of course which suit most people.
If you would like a special course tailored for a business, rehabilitation,
or a school or youth group then please ask for details
As well as being City & Guilds or Cytech qualified we are CRB certified for working with young people.
We have some basic maintenance info here.

What our clients say...
"The course covered all the basics and for the first time, I feel confident with setting up my gears, undoing bottom brackets the right way, opening up a headset
...you gave a lot of useful hints" (MH, Redditch)
"A well presented, interesting course in a casual, hands-on, environment. The course covered the essentials really well and proved that there's no mystery to maintaining your bike. It's easy when you know how; the difficult bit is "knowing how" and after this course I now know how! I'm looking forward to saving myself a few pounds by avoiding unnecessary trips to bike shops for minor repairs, and not having to buy pints as payment to friends for helping me out!" (Ian, Kidderminster)
Bicycle know-how will give you confidence and improve your basic diy maintenance skills from a bike safety check,
fixing a puncture and minor adjustments. These are evening courses (dates tbc)
Bicycle surgery will provide you with the confidence to service a bike all year round.
Both courses are run by a City & Guilds or Cytech qualified cycle technican.
We keep the courses small and informal with a maximum of six people.
At each course, we also have a small selection of essential tools available to buy.
Conditions: A £20 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place on a Bicycle Surgery course, with the balance payable on the day.
If you have a group and would like a special course arranging just for you, no problem, just drop us an email
Bicycle Surgery will introduce you to the techniques of bicycle mechanics and is a day course starting at 9.30 and finishing at 15.00 (usually on a weekend, or by special appointment)
Bring along your bicycle and wear clothes you don't mind getting greasy.
This course is designed as a hands on module for giving the knowledge for maintenance and
roadside repairs to your bicycle.
By the end of a Bicycle Surgery class, you will understand the rudementary skills to practice looking after your bike at home and conduct minor repairs on a ride.
All tools are supplied.
Although we cover some detail; this course will not provide you with a qualification as a Cycle Mechanic or Diagnostic Technician.
Cost of the Bicycle Surgery course: £50 per person, including a morning tea or coffee. Lunch is available to purchase from the venue, with freshly made sandwiches and (really great) cake !!
We recommended that you bring a notepad for taking notes, and cameras are permitted.
Booking is essential - please email us for availability.
